On 12 December as part of the Sacs & Accessories auction in Paris, Christie’s is pleased to offer at auction the Jaune Courchevel Leather Mini Kelly 20 by Hermès originally sold at Christie’s in the 2011 auction the Collection of Elizabeth Taylor. This auction was the most valuable sale of jewellery and fashion ever.
“This museum-level handbag is not only important for its impressive provenance, but from a handbags perspective the Kelly 20 has been discontinued for over 15 years, the colour, Jaune, is discontinued, and the leather Courchevel is discontinued. This is truly an irreplaceable item and one of the most important handbags to ever be auctioned.” Matthew Rubinger, International Head of Handbags & Accessories.
The full auction will feature over 200 handbags and accessories from Asprey, Chanel, Hermès and Louis Vuitton as well as a single owner collection of 40 important and whimsical crystal evening bags from Judith Leiber and Kathrine Baumann, perfect for the holiday season. The prices will range from €1,000-€100,000. It will take place on 12 December at 2pm at Christie’s Paris, 9 avenue Matignon with exhibitions in both London and Paris in November and December.
“This sale was curated for the holiday season with a distinct Parisian flare. For our fifth handbags auction in the fashion capital, we hope that collectors will come to our public exhibitions and auction to see the runway Chanel pieces, archival and vintage Hermès, the single-owner collection of important crystal evening bags and of course our incredible top lots – the diamond Birkin, Himalaya Kelly, and Custom Crocodile Birkin that’s featured on the catalogue cover. The Paris holiday auction is always one of the most exciting of the year!” Lucile Andreani, Junior Specialist Handbags & Accessories, Paris.
This season the exhibitions in both London and Paris will be designed in Rococo Parisian salon theme; the public is welcome and photos are encouraged!
